Women's Wellness Day
Women’s Wellness Day is a free event with the sole objective of celebrating of our local women. The aim of the event is to provide women with a day of rejuvenation and positive social interaction.
The day includes topical speakers, massage therapy, manicures, facials, demonstrations (such as depression management, healthy eating, relaxation techniques), refreshments and service providers on hand to discuss mental health and relationship issues. Health screenings and a variety of hands-on demonstrations will focus on overall well being and also raise awareness of services available to women in the area.
The day is an opportunity for women to relax and enjoy each other’s company in an open and safe environment.
2024
On Wednesday, 11th September 2024 the Leichhhardt Centre in Miles was buzzing. The annual Women’s Wellness Day was held with guest speaker Lisa Curry. Just over 250 women from our region joined the celebration and enjoyed the market stalls from local small businesses, catching up with friends, the demonstrations and free lunch.
Lisa gave insights into her life. “From the golden girl of Australian swimming to a ‘super mum’, entrepreneur and now a proud grannie, Lisa Curry has a powerful story to tell of endurance and enduring”. “Lisa honed her natural talent with a legendary work ethic” all while starting and having a family. Lisa shared her attitude to life with quotes like “We are here for a good time. Not a long time.” and encouraged all listeners to start a Goal List and categorise it between “interested” (you only do when it’s convenient) and “committed” goals (you follow through, no matter what).
Her encouraging words and positive and beautiful nature glowed throughout the hall during the whole day. After her inspiring talk, Lisa mingled with many women and had supporting and kind words for each of them.
The annual event always has various program features, and the team of the Murilla Community Centre always try to cover different interests. At the start of the event, Maleah Hill from local business “Road Warrior 4×4” showed how to check a car and gave helpful mechanical tips. Later in the day, Sonia Stenhouse from Murilla Fitness demonstrated, with the help of Shirley Makin, ’senior friendly exercises’ and gave exercise sheets out to take home.
The sumptuous lunch was followed by brief presentation from our sponsors, Jemena and Senex.
Another highly anticipated program feature is the Fashion Show by Lisa Kennedy from Lisa Kennedy Collections. 42 outfits were showcased by local women and gave the audience a glimpse of upcoming trends.

A big Thank you to all volunteers who helped on the day in the kitchen, with providing flowers and baked goods, on the entry, on set up and clean up.
